COMMANDER 9000 in the field

To the already successful range of 3200, 4400 and 6600 COMMANDER sprayers, HARDI now adds the fourth and largest model with a huge capacity of 9000 litres, which makes this model the worlds largest mass-produced trailed sprayer.

The production line sprayer built at the HARDI Australia manufacturing facility in Adelaide, South Australia, is designed for the Australian and North American markets and holds huge potentials in the large broad-hectare operations of Eastern Europe as well.

The liquid system and overall design have strong family resemblance to the other COMMANDER sprayers, with a heavy-duty chassis to cater for the massive 9000 litre capacity polyethylene main tank and the 730 litre rinse tank.

First Production Models Already in Use
New South Wales cereal farmer Bill Pye chose the HARDI COMMANDER 9000 the most important piece of equipment for his no-tillage cropping program.

‘We sow 11,000 hectares in Coonamble to wheat, barley and chick-peas each year and experience some of Australia’s most demanding conditions in the process,’ explained Bill. With no-tillage timing is essential and spraying capacity is all important to ensure success. ‘That’s why we purchased three of the COMMANDER 9000,’ he added.

‘With 27,000 litres you can get over a lot of country quickly, and with a program as big as ours you are often contending with conditions that prevent you from spraying,’ Bill elaborated. ‘The crop never waits for the right spraying conditions, and therefore we have to be ready to go when the window of opportunity presents itself. We now have the equipment to get the job done with confidence.’

User-friendly COMMANDER features

The COMMANDER sets a benchmark for innovative functional design from its inception and is a powerful combination of style and performance. Completely new development from the ground up, the COMMANDER range represents the greatest ever investment in product development by HARDI.

A chassis design with exceptional strength and low weight combined with a new tank shape provides a very low centre of gravity. The axle and the chassis ensure excellent crop clearance. Drawbar Suspension and hydraulic support leg are standard equipment on the 6600 and 9000 litre models. Suspension elements absorb vertical movement, preventing shock transfer to the operator.

A fluid system managed from the trailer ‘work zone’ gives unparalleled control of the sprayer during filling and cleaning operations.

To cater for the high fluid flow rates, a FlexCapacity pump system provides increased volume on the 9000 and is optional on the 6600. A new EasyClean suction filter and a CycloneFilter delivery filter have been developed, and three new FastFill systems take care of the filling from external sources. A new ChemFiller makes light work of mixing and transfer.
